Set amongst magnificent pine woods you will find the quaint Edwardian village of Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire. The south transept of Kirkstead Abbey, built in 1139 by Hugo Brito can still be seen and these ruins make for a very interesting visit. The abbey was replaced by St. Leonards.

There are several heritage sites devoted to aviation, chiefly the 617 squadron, Known during the Second World War as the “Dambusters”. Woodhall is at the very heart of what was known as “Bomber Country. By the end of the War in 1945 there were no less than 49 USAAF and RAF airfield sites in Lincolnshire, these operated Lancaster bombers. Obviously the majority of these are no longer operational, but they are regularly used for squadron memorials.

Located in Kiamesha Lake, Sullivan County, New York,the Concord was the largest resort in the region before closing in 1998. There was a dining room of a capacity of 3000 and it had over 1,500 guest rooms too.The resort covered an area of 2000 acres.

In 1936, a Russian Immigrant Arthur Winarick acquired the Kiamesha Property. In 1939,he incorporated the property.

On March, 16, 2000 the plans for a $500 million redevelopment were revealed. When completed,this will be one of the most significant development efforts taken by New York. The new luxury hotel is to be designed by Hillier Group and will be built in an architectural style similar to the traditional mountain lodge.It will replace the old Concord hotel. The proposal for a total reconstruction to create a new four-star, world class hotel and conference center is suggested. An all year-round resort and residential community is also proposed.

The overall plan is being designed by William B. Tabler and architects from New York City in coordination with Divney Tung Schwalbe which is an engineering and environmental design firm based in White Plains, New York. The site covers more than 1,600 acres of open space and the famous Golf Course too.
